National Minimum Wage increase:
With effect from 1st October 2012 the National Minimum Wage will be rising again:
· for workers aged 21 years or more: £6.19 per hour
· for workers aged 18 to 20 inclusive: £4.98 per hour
Agency Workers Regulation
With effect from 1st October 2011, the Agency Workers Regulations (AWR) became law in the UK.
The AWR provides every temporary worker with a set of rights on Day One of an assignment, and for those temporary workers that complete 12 weeks on assignment with the same Client, doing the same role (though this can be with more than one Agency), a number of enhanced rights.
Day One rights include, but are not limited to:
- access to shared facilities and amenities or services provided by the end user Client (for instance canteen facilities)
- information on job vacancies with the end user client
Week 12 rights include, but are not limited to:
- pay
- holidays
- night work
- rest periods/breaks
- duration of working time
